Welcome back to another episode of Thrive and Lolly, the podcast where we have honest conversations about growth, wellness, entrepreneurship, and becoming the best version of yourself. I'm Ternice. And I'm Aisha. And we're the host of Thrive and Lowly.

SPEAKER_00

Whether you're healing, building a career, starting over, or simply trying to enjoy life a little more, we're here to remind you that growth doesn't have to be perfect. It just has to be intentional. Exactly.

SPEAKER_02

Um, so summer has a different kind of energy, right? It feels lighter, slower, and full of possibility. Instead of letting summer pass by, we're asking ourselves, how can we romanticize this season and become better because of it? Today we're sharing the routines, the habits, and little things we're doing to make this summer feel intentional, peaceful, productive, and memorable. Because you guys know we're in Arizona and we have to do something so we can stay out of that heat. So um, what does it actually mean to romanticize your life? What does it mean to you?

SPEAKER_00

I would say for myself, it's just enjoying, I would say enjoying the little things and just having fun, right? I think that sometimes we can get so serious with this like grind and hustle culture and all these things happening. And it's like sometimes you just need to take a take a moment and touch grass.

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Like literally touch grass. I'm ta I'm talking just like get outside. Um put your feet in it. Yeah, put your feet in it. Yeah, grounding is actually great for you. Um, so yeah, I think for me, I've been a little bit more intentional with just really living in the moment and enjoying things without it being tied to work or like a brand deal or something like that. Um, I know just this past weekend, um, myself and my boyfriend, we went up to Flagstaff. Uh and if you guys are listening from, you know, somewhere else, like Flagstaff is in northern Arizona and it's literally 20 to 30 degrees cooler. So I think the high was like 80 degrees. Like the low got into like the high 50s, low 60s. And for us who live in Arizona, that's nice weather. Okay. Like that's the dream temperature because it is 100 plus in the summer. Um, and so kind of escaping the heat and just kind of just being out in nature. We actually went to a music festival, which was super fun. And it just was just because we wanted to go. It wasn't tied to me getting invited, you know, or anything like that. It was just like we just wanted to go um and live in the moment. No expectations, no expectations. And I actually was like, dang, I didn't even take much content. Like I took a few clips, a cute, few, few photos, but I was like, dang, I was living like because there wasn't much content, no OOTDs, like all this stuff I would typically do if I was going somewhere for content, you know. Um, so it was really nice. So I've been just really just trying to live in the moment and also escape this heat. So what about you?

SPEAKER_02

Um romanticizing my life. I would say for sure, making sure that I'm keeping up with my um workout routines, doing my skincare, um, trying to dress up as much as I can. Um, I love wearing heels. When I was younger, I used to wear heels all the time and I had stopped for a long period of time. So just putting on heels, you know, dressing myself up, pouring into myself. Um, those are some things that I've been doing. And just getting out and enjoying my friends, hanging out with them, um, going to dinner, going to concerts, um, trying new things. I'm actually I've been taking a couple of uh po dancing classes.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, how's that going?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's going.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so where do you go for our listeners and also for myself?

SPEAKER_02

Because maybe I need to look into this. This sounds cool. You really should. Um, I've been going to Violet Flames. Okay. So that's in Scottsdale. It's off of um uh I can't think of the street, um, Hayden. It's off a Hayden role. So it's been going. Um, so in the class, it's a beginner class, but they teach you the fundamentals of pole dancing. So it's not like you're actually doing a routine, you're just learning different um, you know, movements and um just different ways of how how to move your body so that you can get to the stage where you're actually, you know, on the pole and stuff like that. So that has been very, very fun for me. Um, I've gotten back into yoga, I've just been doing a lot of stuff for Ternice. And so that's how I've been romanticizing my life is just being more active and getting into my sensuality and having fun and listening to music and dancing and just everything.

SPEAKER_00

I I love that. I love that for you. I think that's so important. Um, I don't know. I just feel like over the last, probably like probably since COVID, you know, a lot of people haven't been really, you know, going out and just experience life and just doing stuff for themselves. Um, and it doesn't need to be like tied to social media or just someone told you to do this. I think, you know, it's good to explore what is filling your cup. And so I think that's so important and I love that. Yeah, that's awesome.

SPEAKER_02

And everything does not have to be documented. And so I had to go back to that because I got into, I kind of got into it where I was like, I want to post everything, but I'm like, I don't want to post everything. Yeah, you know, some stuff is for me, and I think that goes back to romanticizing my life. Like some stuff I just want to keep private. Yeah, it's just my life.

SPEAKER_00

I love that, and I like that you brought that up. I actually went to coffee with a friend the other day. Like, this is the first time I'm starting to really slowly kind of reconnect with friends. You know, she hit me up because she um, you know, was visiting from LA. So, like, you know, I haven't seen her since when I was in LA last year in October, and so we reconnected and we went to the global ambassador for coffee, and you know, it's such a vibe there. So if you live in Arizona and you like live in the valley, like the global ambassador is like such a sexy, fun hotel, you know, the who's who go there. Yeah, uh, they do. Um, so yeah, we just grabbed coffee there and it was really good to see her. And I didn't pull out my phone to like get content, nothing. And I was like, I need more moments like this because I could have been like, you know, putting up a story with our coffee. I'm with friend, I'm with so-and-so, and da-da-da, you know, and like put up all these stories. I was at Global and I didn't do any content. And I think it's nice to just have those moments where you can just connect with people and not not be like, pause, let me like, you know, do all these things. So I think that's something I've been valuing more and more these days is more time off my phone and just connecting with people. Um, because I feel like that's been filling my cup up more. And like to your point, not everything needs to be content all the time. Sometimes it's just nice to just do things and just live and be present and be in the moment. Um something I'm valuing more and more. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. My mom was here just this past week and we took maybe like one picture. I didn't, we didn't even take and my plan was to take pictures, like, come out with my mom, you know. But I was just like, I'm just enjoying her. I don't want to take a picture.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you haven't seen her for a while.

SPEAKER_02

I was like, I just want to be with my mom and just spend quality time and it doesn't have to be documented. Like, and I think that that is helping me get back to just life, like everyday life. Because I feel like we get so caught up in social media, it's like this virtual world. It's almost like you're playing a Sims or something. Like I believe it. What is it called? The meta metaverse. That's what I feel like we're in.

SPEAKER_00

It's yeah, in social media. Yeah, simulation written. Exactly.

SPEAKER_02

Like tinfoil hat, like I believe it's not real life. It's not and sometimes you just really have to step back. Like, this is not real. This is what I want you to see. This is the highlight, real, yeah, but this is not my real life, you know. It's like I need to get in my life, you know, and everything does not have to be shown. Yeah. So that's yeah, that's a part of romance and romanticizing my life.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I agree with that. Um, what's one thing you've already done this summer that's made you feel alive?

SPEAKER_02

Um, just taking those different classes. Like I said, the pole dancing class has just really opened me up and um just allowed me to tap more into my femininity and my sensuality and my creativity. Um, so I'm really excited about that. I've just learned different things that I've would have never known or done, you know, and I feel like it's helping me connect to my womanhood a lot more. How about yourself?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I would say for myself, it's just kind of going to festivals and kind of concerts and just doing kind of fun stuff like that again. Um, and stuff to where I don't have to really document it. I feel like that's kind of really helped me just reconnect with myself and things I enjoy and just having fun and just letting loose. Um, because I feel like there was a point where I was like so hyper-vigilant on like, you know, or you know, or people like, you know, judging me or, you know, like all these things are coming up in my head. And I feel like this past weekend I was really able just to let loose and have fun and just just live in the moment and be and dance. And so for me, that's really been good for me. I feel like because social media is my job, I'm so hyper villigent on like getting the content, capturing the moments, doing all these things. And so it's nice to kind of be away from that matrix a little bit. Um, and it is the matrix. Yeah, it is. It is. Yeah, that's the word I was looking for, really. The matrix. Yeah. I'm just like, it's actually, you know, I would say this like when I started social media like years ago, like back in the 2010s, it was a way for me to escape from, I guess, reality, real life. And it was just like my world, right? But I feel like now social media is so weird and toxic and just weird. Like, I don't know, like it's just it's it's different, it's a different climate that I want to escape and go back to the real world. Exactly. Because I feel like the real world people are more kind. There's no really as much judgment, like you're not in this whole fear state, like, oh, if I if I say something or I post this, or am I gonna there's there gonna be a witch hunt after me? Which you know, I recently experienced on on my TikTok. I was gonna say that, yeah. I was like, geez, I was just like, I am the bad guy for posting one video. Um but I'm just like, this is weird, this is crazy. Um, and I also believe in the dead internet theory, but that's a whole thing we could talk about, but you know, it's a whole another thing. But um yeah, I just feel like now going back into the real world and being like, you know, people are kind, like people are having fun. We can come together, we can be at a festival no matter who you are, what you look like, where you came from, and just be together and have fun and dance, yeah, has really been fun and healing for me.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, I would have degree too. I I just love music, I like dancing and stuff. So I always feel happy when I'm able to do that, like how we went to um the concert. Yeah. That was fun. And just yeah, just being able to just get out and do things. Exactly. Yes, it's I love that. Um, what's one thing you've okay, we just said that. Um why do you think we wait for special occasions to actually enjoy our lives? Like um, maybe when the holiday comes up, or once I meet X amount of goals, then I can finally have fun or take this trip, or you know, why do we wait? Why don't we just enjoy our lives now?

SPEAKER_00

I feel like maybe it's just like kind of society. You know, we're in this like different type of culture where everything is one being documented, and two, it's just like you feel like you have to like keep up with the Joneses and just like, okay, like I have to do all these things in order to get to where I want to be. Instead of just being and being you, I think people are trying to emulate, emulate other people too much. Yes. And instead the power is in yourself, the power is you as the as the being and and as the person. And I think that we're so trying to be and act and look and do content like everyone else, or whatever it is. I feel like we're just kind of like there's no individuality anymore, there's no originality anymore, you know. And I see this online with just even like you know, people I know or follow, I'm just like, I feel like I'm seeing the same person in different fonts. Yes, you know, I'm just like, where's your per like where's personality again? Where's luckily?

SPEAKER_02

Everybody wants to look the same, everybody's doing the same thing. Like, who's standing out?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, who's standing out? Who's like, you know, doing things that are different, you know, like and it's like I like, you know, like I said, I love doing Pilates, I love matcha, I love all these things, but I feel like sometimes that even that's like a copy it copy and paste aesthetic a little bit. And I don't know, I just feel like nobody's really being them true, their their true selves. And I know that's kind of hard online now with the climate of online culture, so they feel like that's the safe way to go. Um, but I just kind of want to see a little bit more of that. And I think people are a little afraid to step into who they are right now.

SPEAKER_02

I agree, and I think that's why I'm being a little rebellious and I'm just like, I'm just doing my thing. Like, I don't care what people think of me, you know, whatever. Like, I'm I'm gonna be Trinice because yeah, it's too much copy and paste. You know, I'm a girl that has been doing yoga and Pilates like 15 years plus, you know, and you wouldn't really be able to tell on my page because I'm like, well, I don't want to post because everybody's posting this. I'm like, I'm actually true to this. I was doing this as a teenager, like, you know, this is not new for me, but it just seems like everybody is just doing the same thing, everybody wants to look the same, everybody's getting all these surgeries and hair looks the same. And it's like, my God. Yeah, the trends. Yeah, it's like all trends.

SPEAKER_00

It's like nobody's being different. And it was so interesting. I saw like a video where people were talking about how celebrities looked like 20 years ago and 30 years ago, and like how people had just different facial features. Everybody looked different, right? They had their different facial features and they were conventionally attractive for what they looked like, and now it's like very much kind of now in celebrity culture and even in you know, influencer culture, it's like everyone kind of looks the same, they have the same, you know, way they do their injectables, and it's just the same aesthetic versus like that. So we're really seeing that as well. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I think that's one of the big reasons too why I kind of stay away from um procedures and stuff because I'm like, I don't want to fall into that. Like, I really want to get my lips done, but I'm just like, I don't know if I really want to get them done because I don't want them to look fake, you know. Like, I don't, I just don't want to do too much that just throws me off. Like I would never get my cheeks done because my cheeks are gonna be, you know, humongous. Yeah. So um, yeah, but it's just yeah, the time that we live in is I don't know. I don't know what to say about it. It's kind of scary, but yeah, yeah. We just gotta get back to being our own person and stop looking at everybody else. Um, so for me, why do I think people wait for a special occasion to enjoy their lives? I think it is because they're so busy looking at everybody else and they're not in their own life. I think if you're in your own life, you're paying attention to you know the things that you have going on, you would be living now. Yeah, you know, and really understand that, you know, life is short. You don't have time to wait. Do it now because you could be here today and gone tomorrow. You know, God forbid something can happen to you and you wish you would have, you know, taken that trip or just even heck going to the park, you know, just got out of your house, you know, on a Wednesday and just went to the park. Like you said, touch some grass, you know, like just live, you know. And so yeah, I think a lot of people are not living because they're in survival mode, they're looking at everybody else and they're not taking the time to put their phone down and actually get back into reality.

SPEAKER_00

I agree with that. Yeah, that is the the truth, the hard truth. And I don't think it's the hard truth. And I don't think people are ready for that conversation. Um they're not, you know, that's just kind of where we're at right now. Um, so when we talk about summer routines, what habits are helping you become your best self this summer?

SPEAKER_02

Working out. Yeah. Um, I would say, working with my personal trainer, I have to shout him out, uh, Marcus. We had a really good heart to heart yesterday. He's like trydies. So um, but really being consistent in the gym, I've been working out with him since March, and we did a weigh-in yesterday for July 1st. I know this will be afterwards, you know, once this actually comes out. But um, you know, I've been working so hard. I've been keeping up with my um workouts and nutrition and everything, but I'm at a plateau. I haven't lost any weight, I haven't gained any weight. Well, it's because I'm drinking wine on the weekends, which I kind of defeat the purpose. And so um him and I, we sat down and we had a heart to heart. He was like, you know, we're we're doing all of this, you know, if this is something that you truly want to do, you know, you're gonna have to cut the alcohol out, at least temporarily, if you really want to, you know, meet your goal. And so I had to really sit with myself after that conversation because he um wrote out an agreement and everything, like you're gonna agree to yourself. No, this is your personal agreement to yourself that you are going to stop doing this so you won't, you know, sabotage yourself and you can actually get the true results that you, you know, want to have. Um, and so after after just that and going home and just really, I think it for me is it's going back to trauma. I'm so used to just having fun and just drinking on the weekend and just thinking, like, oh, this is nothing, but I really am self-sabotaging myself.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

You know, and I had to just kind of get real, like, okay, do you really want to lose this weight? Do you really want to get in shape? Or are you just doing this just to do this and you're wasting time? Like, what's the real goal here? Um, so I I got really clear last night into today, and I'm just like, I'm done. I have to take a break for a little bit and really just focus on Trinice. So I am back on track with just putting myself first, um, taking this, taking this fitness journey truly serious. You know, if I'm putting in all this work and time and energy and spending all this money, uh I need to see some results. I can't keep spinning my wheels and doing the same thing every week and expecting something different. It's it's insanity.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um, so I would say that's been my biggest thing is just trying to really hone in on my wellness, um, fitness, nutrition so that I can truly see the results for myself.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, no, I like that. Um, I'm I'm you know, I'm glad that you're getting serious. I know for myself too, like, you know, fitness has definitely been a journey. It's been up and down. Um, and it can be difficult for what I do. You know, I review food, I'm always out, there's always free drinks. Like so it can be a little tough to be super dialed in. Um, but I know even for myself, I'm really being like, okay, like after this weekend, let me get it's always after this weekend. I have my brother in town who's coming in tomorrow. I was like, oh my gosh, I'm gonna have to show him a good time.

SPEAKER_01

So I'm like fourth of July.

SPEAKER_00

So um I yeah, I think you know, it's just going back to, you know, my goals and what are your goals, you know? And so I know for myself, like it's been a little up and down. I would say I've been mostly dialed in, but it, you know, the drinking, it's you know, I did take a break earlier in the year, but then it's like to fully, it's been hard for me to fully cut out alcohol, I will have to admit. Um, but I'm working through that. Um, but yeah, I would just say, you know, for myself, it's just like really honing back in into that routine. Um, I started going back to Pilates again last week after being kind of like on and off. Like I'll go for like one or two classes a month, fall off, and I'm not consistent. So I'm really making it a point this month to really be consistent with Pilates and continuing that and other um kind of routines and habits as well.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's so easy to fall off. Yeah, yeah. I don't know, it's tough. It's like it's tough with alcohol. And I never really thought it was like a big deal, but lately I've just been seeing so much stuff online. They're like, if you really want to lose weight, you have to cut out the alcohol, yeah, at least for the time being, so that you can get to a Good point, and then your body, you know, your metabolism could pick up, and it'll be easier for you when you do pick it back up, you know, where you can still lose the weight. But if you are trying to really see a difference in your body and everything, you do have to cut it out for a certain period of time.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And so really coming to that um realization has just been eye-opening for me.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Because I'm like, I've never really cut out alcohol my whole life. You know, like it's always been a thing, you know. So it's like, this is deeper than just a social, you know, just like a weekend thing. This is actually like traumatic. Like, this is a part of my life. This is what I do on the weekends. This is how I have fun, you know. Yeah. I open up some wine, you know, on the weekend and watch a movie. You know, like that's a part of my routine. So now it's like replacing it with what, kava? Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I do like kava, I do mocktails. Like I had a period where I cut out alcohol for quite some time. I would say like six, seven months, eight months. I did a pretty long stretch. And then every, I would say three to six months, I'll take like a month or two off of alcohol. Um, and I replace it with stuff like kava and you know, different adaptogen drinks, you know. Yeah. I know a lot of them don't taste that good, or they're just like you don't get a good, I don't know, it doesn't give you that buzz. Like I'm so full. Yeah, like fizzy. There's like those fizzy drinks. Um, I know there's like um, I know we we talked about this in a very early episode about like, you know, cannabis, but there's like those cannabis mocktail drinks. Um, there's one brand that's called nowadays. It looks like uh, it looks like a bottle of alcohol, but it's like, you know, cannabis infused drinks. And you can just like mix and make a mock tail out of that. Um, but I know that's replacing one thing for another. Exactly.

SPEAKER_02

And I'm like, I do not consume cannabis at all.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. So that's like, you know, so I mean, that's not for everybody, right? Um, but yeah, I feel like alcohol, especially for me, it's mostly I don't really drink at home. I'm not a home at home drinker where I'm like, oh, let me have a glass of wine. I mean, if I do, it's very rare. It's like once in a blue moon. Um, I'm definitely a social drinker. I'm definitely like, oh, if I'm at an event and you know, me, I'm very naturally introverted. So having a drink and, you know, loosening up, it gets me a little bit, makes me feel a little bit better. Um, but yeah, you know, I'm kind of always immersed in that because I'm always out. So it is so challenging to be like fully dry. It's possible. It's just challenging. So I know it's gonna be a journey for you, but it's possible. I feel like once you get over the first like two weeks and then you get on the scale and you're starting to see that inflammation go. Cause I mean, that's really that's what it is. It's really a lot of inflammation. It is so once you start to see that, you're gonna be like, okay, I can I can get through this. And you know, I I used to use this app where it would just like count my sober days. So that really helps me stay motivated and and stuff like that. So I use it from time to time when I do like my little sober stretches. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I'll have to do that because I'm just trying to find different ways. He was like, instead of doing that, he was like, work on your podcast and work on your business. I'm like, I don't know, but I need some downtime too. Yeah, to loosen. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I know for me, I was when I cut alcohol out, I was still, you know, obviously using and doing gummies and stuff like that. So I'm like, uh, that helped me get through it, but it's not like obviously the best long-term solution.

SPEAKER_02

Um because I don't want to get dependent on gummies. Yeah, you don't want to do the gummies and to taking a gummy to go to bed or on the weekend. You're like, mm-mm.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, no, you don't want to be dependent on that either, you know, because I remember I was I went dry for all those things for a while, and it's can be tough, but it's possible for sure. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So that's what I would say. Um, and then I've also been reading too more and trying to get back into my books, just reading. That's that may be one thing that I may incorporate too instead of um drinking alcohol. Let's pull out that book and read.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I know. I have so many books I need to read more too. It's something that like I'll start a book and then stop, and I'm like not consistent. Me too. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And so I got about five books that got bookmarks in them. Yeah, I need to get back to that one.

SPEAKER_00

I'm the same way. Yeah, I think that that can definitely help. Just get outdoors, you know, do different activities, you're trying new things. Yeah. Um, I know um Jonas wants me to come with him to salsa. He's been taking like these salsa dance lessons. Uh-huh. Um, those have been fun. He's like trying to get me to go today. He's like, You should go. Oh my gosh. Yeah, I'm gonna try it out. Cause I I watched him do one class and then he's just been going. He's gone a couple of times after that. And yeah, it looks fun. So I might try that, you know, get get into that a little bit.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Trying to think what else. And for me too, just protecting my pieces as well. Um, I've been doing a really good job of that. I'm just like, I'm at the point now where I'm just like, if you are not added to my life and you are disrupting it, you have to go. I'm sorry. Like, I don't have time for it anymore. Yeah, I just don't.

SPEAKER_00

So I like that because I feel like for myself, I've been more so like, I don't want to know what's going on, what drama, whose business. I'm like, I'm I'm good with being out the loop. I'm good with not knowing the the ins and outs of other people's lives. Exactly. Cause it's easy to get sucked into gossip and who's doing what, what's happening to this person. But I'm like, honestly, like my life has improved with just being out the loop. I'm like, I don't need the stress. I don't need to know who's doing this. I don't need, I don't care to know. Uh you don't need to keep calling me and updating me. Like, oh, did you see this girl? Did you just I was like, nah, no, I haven't, girl. I've been trying to live my own life. Exactly. I got my own priorities. I don't know what so-and-so is doing this week or what she posted or what this did. I was like, I don't know. Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So yeah, that's what I've been doing as well. Um, what are some small changes that you feel are making like a big difference for you?

SPEAKER_00

Um, what how I know you said you started therapy. Yeah, started therapy. Yeah, yeah. We actually um kind of chatted about that. Yeah, I started therapy um a few weeks ago. And that's been really good to just really talk to someone and and and be open. Um it's it's for me, it's like, dang, I kind of wish I had health insurance. Yeah. Um, I understood because I the last time I was in in therapy, I was still working my nine to five. And, you know, you know, going from pain so low to now paying so high. I'm like, whoo! Yeah, I was like, but I need these sessions. Like, I need these sessions. So I was like, you know, I obviously, you know, I'm paying for it, but um it's been really very helpful for me, you know, so far, and just having someone listen to me because I feel like there's been some stuff that I haven't been quite open to other people in my life, like friends or, you know, my siblings and just things like that, and having a safe space to kind of talk about certain things like going on in my head and and you know, just things that have happened um has been really um has been really good for me, you know, on a on a on a personal level. So because it's just like you don't want to bottle up that stuff for too long. You don't sometimes you just need a safe space first before you can just be like, okay, I can like, you know, open up to my, you know, my friends and my family and stuff like that. Um yeah, so it's been it's been good. It's been good. So that's definitely been a change for me. Um I think also just kind of prioritizing just myself and just like habits, you know. I I tend to fall off. I wouldn't say I'm a messy person, but sometimes like as busy as I get, like things just pile up. Just they just do, you know, I'm like going from one thing to the next, and I'm like, then I look at my closet and I look at my house and I'm like, oh my gosh, like it's a disaster. So I also um had I've been working with this girl before. Um, she does like home organizing. So she kind of came in and helped me like get my closet back together and just kind of like get my brain. I feel like just having that too, just has really just helped me like be like, oh, okay, like I can see things, I can organize, and you know, maybe how I had it before was just outrageous. I can find things and I'm like trying to pull like outfits together. And so that has really helped me too, is just kind of getting my life back on track a little bit after like a busy period. What about you? I like that.

SPEAKER_02

Um, some small changes that have made a big difference in my life. Um, like I said, I've really just been focused on um more outward than inward. I feel like I've always been an inward person. I've been meditating and healing for years, you know, working with a spiritual coach and all that. So I feel like that part I have covered, um, it's just really been the external. Just really working on myself, working on my appearance, working on my health and wellness, and just investing in myself every day has I feel like has made a big change within me. Like I've gained more confidence than I've had before, you know, because I've been filling up myself, you know, I've been taking care of myself, making sure I'm doing my skincare routine, you know, wearing a little bit of makeup, I'm doing my hair, you know, I'm doing that deep conditioner that needs to get done every week. Like I'm actually sticking to the things that I set out for myself, I'm getting my nails done, you know. It make it making me feel a lot better about myself and like to have more confidence and actually makes me want to get outside and do things. Um, so those small changes have truly helped me.

SPEAKER_00

I like that because when you look good, you feel good, right? You feel good when you take time to, like you said, get your nails done, do your hair, do your makeup. Like you just feel good about yourself. Um, and I think that's something that's very I'm not gonna say it's underrated, but I think a lot of people internalize things in other people, but it's like you could be that person too. You could, you know, you can be those things, you know, like it's not out of reach for you. No, um, and it's not pretentious, yeah. Yeah, it's not, you know, to look good, carry yourself well. Like you could be that person. And I think sometimes people internalize that, like, oh, who does she think she is? She's now getting her nails done, she's doing all these things. But it's like you can be that person, you can be uh confident, attractive, and take care of yourself. It's uh it's possible for anyone, it is, and it feels good, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So I would recommend it for um anyone. Yeah, I would say that. Um, yeah, buying flowers for myself. Um what else? Having my mom this past week has been really nice as well. She organized my closet.

SPEAKER_01

Oh god, thank you.

SPEAKER_02

Because I'm like, I need to get this together. This is a mess.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, I feel that.

SPEAKER_02

So she went in my closet and just organized everything. And I was just like, wow. I don't know. It's just something about having your parents, something about having family that is just heartwarming. And me and my mom, we have such a special bond, like how you said you were working with a um therapist. My mom, I can pretty much tell her everything. You know, she's truly my safe space where I feel like, okay, I can confide in her, I can tell her these things. She's gonna give me the honest truth whether I want to hear it or not. Um, and that is just so fulfilling. So to be able to have her and go back home, you know, and spend time with my family, I think uh that just makes a difference. Like being able to do that a couple times a year makes a huge difference in your life, especially when you're living out of state, you know. Yeah, absolutely. Because you're not seeing them on a regular basis. You don't realize until you're with them how much you've missed them and and just uh how it grounds you back into reality.

SPEAKER_00

No, I I love that. I love that you uh mentioned that for sure.

SPEAKER_02

So tell me about like how does your summer routine look different from like your fall routine or your winter routine? What are some different things that you do in the summer?

SPEAKER_00

Different things that I do in the summer, I haven't really thought too much about that because I feel like my life is so high speed sometimes that I'm like, what am I doing? Well, what's going on here? But I think for myself, um, I think because you know, we live in Arizona and you know, it's so hot here. I think for me, just kind of having time to escape the heat and kind of like get out in nature because I feel like it's so hard out here, yeah, with how hot it is, um, is something that I do every summer, you know, going up north, taking trips, you know, flagstaff. I mean, that's such a big part of um what I do every summer. Um, you know, lately my summers also have been been spent in Oregon because that's where my boy boyfriend's from. So we're actually going back to Oregon in a few weeks. Um, and they they always do this like summer trip where they um go out to this um lake and it's fun. They rent a lake house and they bring all their family together. And so that's that's been really nice and just like being out there and they do a lot of like family activities. They do you know, sand volleyball and they're doing all these things. Like I never had that growing up. So it's like fun to see that. And you know, them just all connecting and they do board game nights and it's I really like that, you know, just really connecting um, you know, with his family in that way. Um but yeah, you know, um, I would say that um my fall routine, I feel like fall is like it's showtime in fall. I feel like summer is like a lot slower for me where I can like reflect, slow down. But I think that's just the climate we're in, you know, living out here. Yeah, fall is go time, fall is so different. Fall is like here, here, here, there, there, there. Where do you need to be? Like, you know, because I feel like we're on high speed in Arizona. Um, so yeah, I just like like that's kind of like our summer fall. Yeah, yeah. That's like our summer. It's like, okay, we're outside, we're really outside. Like we're really outside, we're really having fun. It's like events, festivals, all these things are happening. Um, so yeah, I just feel like I'm just very much in a I'm gonna slow down, I'm gonna enjoy nature, I'm going to enjoy my time, I'm going to reflect. And then fall is just more go, go, go for me a little bit, which you know, I need to I need to find the balance. Um, we'll see how this fall goes. I'm gonna try to be more balanced this fall, but um Libra scales, Libra is yeah, I'm not Libra, but she is.

SPEAKER_01

Um I'm like, I know all about that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but yeah, I need to find the the balance a little bit with with the things I do.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, I would say for me too, the summertime is more slower. Yeah. And I I think it just gives me a good time to, like you said, reflect because you're so busy with the winter, the fall, you know, it's like the summer, it's kind of chill and a lot of people are out of town. It's just it's a different climate here in a summertime. Yeah, it's definitely a different vibe. The other seasons, yeah. So I like to take the summer to kind of just slow down a little bit. Like, okay, let me just kind of make time for this, you know. My clients are occupied over there. Like, let me just try to, you know, soak uh soak it up a little bit as much as I can, you know. Absolutely, and see my family and stuff.

SPEAKER_00

Do you have like a like a summer bucket list? Or is there anything you want to do this summer that you haven't? I know we're kind of halfway through a little bit, but I would love to get up to Sedona.

SPEAKER_02

That's like on my bucket list, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So taking a weekend. You've been I have not been yet. Girl, we'll we'll plan something, we'll make it happen. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So that's on my bucket list. Mm-hmm. And just, I mean, honestly, just relaxing. I want to um do like a staycation at one of these resorts. Me and my friend Jenna keeps talking about that. That we're gonna go to one of these resorts and just hang out at the pool and not have a drink.

unknown

Oh god.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my gosh. So just soak up the sun, you know.

SPEAKER_00

So tell me, how long are you planning to be sober? Do you have a timeline or is it just I don't.

SPEAKER_02

I think like a I think I need at least a couple months to really start to see some results. Because I know that it is what's hindering my weight loss journey.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So I just need to cut it out.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Or like very minimum, like one drink, maybe a week or something.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, or do like a tequila soda. I mean, if you're gonna drink like tequila, it's like the cleanest alcohol, it's made from agave. So, you know, I know when I drink, I typically gravitate towards tequila. And then if I'm really trying to party, like it's a tequila soda. I'm not not having sugar, I'm not having juices, I'm not doing all this other stuff. Like, I love a good margarita, but like that's sugar, that's salt, that's all these other added stuff that they put into it. So it's like if I'm really trying to enjoy my night, have a few drinks, tequila tequila, that's it. See, I'm a wine girl. I love wine. That's the problem.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_00

Uh yeah, it's tough. Yeah, I love wine too. I love a good glass of wine, but the calories, sugar. That's what I just feel like is just like sugar.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Just dumped in a cup, you know. And then I always feel bad afterwards.

SPEAKER_01

I'm like, why did I do that? I was doing so good. I have to start over next week. Yeah, like reset.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, exactly. It's like you're on this hamster wheel every week, you know. So I don't know, we'll see. But I'm just hoping right now I'm saying 30 days. Yeah, I'm like, let me get through July and then we'll see by August. What it's looking like, yeah, by August.

SPEAKER_00

That's a that's a good, good way to start. Yeah, set that intention. And I think that's important too, is just having an intention, setting it, and just trying to uh just stick with it, basically. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So we'll see how that goes. How has your um beauty regimen changed, like from you know, fall or uh winter versus the summertime? Is it a lot lighter in the summer because it's so hot?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I would say that. I'm just you know, if I'm not out filming, I don't really wear a lot of makeup. It might be just like a tinted moisturizer or sunscreen. Um, I stay out of the sun for most of the summer. I don't go outside if I don't have to. Yeah. Um, I mean, we have some of the strongest, I think, rays in the in the world out in Arizona. So um yeah, it's just very light, minimal. Um, definitely more moisturizer, more layering. I feel like I even layer my um moisturizers kind of multiple times a day, especially if I'm not wearing makeup. So if I'm in the morning, I'll layer with like a serum, a moisturizer, and then like halfway through the day, I'm like reapplying because I just feel like it's just so dry out here. So I'm like constantly having to like rehydrate my skin. Um, and then yeah, you know, I don't try to do any like hardcore treatments or peels just because it's like you're really not supposed to in the summer, like getting a heavy chemical peel and you know, or doing heavy microneedling because it's just like the rays and the sun, like you don't want to be exposing, exposing yourself to that. Um, but since it's slower, like for me, this would be the better time to do it just because fall is so busy. So, like sometimes I will, you know, I have plans to get a few treatments done. Um, now that it's like summer and I'm just gonna get them out the way. Um, so yeah, I just try to do stuff like that during the summer while it's slow for my skin. Um, because I'm gonna do next week, I'm gonna do um PRF, which I've done PRP before. What is that? No, I haven't done any of that. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

I'm like so basic when it comes to skincare.

SPEAKER_00

No, it's um, so they draw your blood and basically they um inject it into your skin. It's not like filler because it's like your blood, it's like your blood palates. Um, and it's supposed to basically um help build collagen. It's like a natural stimulant, it stimulates your collagen and it helps like do all of that. So I'm actually getting that done next week, um, which will be nice. But um yeah, I like that. Just like a lot of the natural stuff is really good, you know. So I'm always like trying to experiment with that.

SPEAKER_02

What's the difference between that and then the and then the PRP? Is it PRP?

SPEAKER_00

I think, well, I think P, yeah, there's PRP and PRF. PRF, I think it's thicker. I think how they spin it, it's something how they spin it and concentrate your blood. Okay. Um, but it's supposed to be thicker, so it's supposed to last longer and it's supposed to help really repair and build the collagen even better. So I'm gonna try that. Yeah. Report back. Yes, please do and let me know how that goes.

SPEAKER_02

Absolutely. Yeah, I'm just natural skincare products, put it on my face. Yeah, again, my facials every month. Um, and then minimal makeup. I'm like, this is probably the most makeup I've worn in a while because I try not to wear makeup during a week if I don't have to. Yeah. I'm working from home, so I'm like, nobody's seeing me. I'm not gonna put on all this makeup. Yeah, I'm the same way.

SPEAKER_00

If I'm not going anywhere, no makeup. Yeah, I'm like, I am good. Yeah. So we are going into our rapid fire segment. Um, so this is complete the sentence. My My ideal summer morning starts with. Oh, um, what does it start with? Some sunshine.

SPEAKER_03

That's good.

SPEAKER_00

Sun, sun in the first sun, first thing in the morning is actually good for you. I like that. Um, how about you? I would just say probably hydration. I'm gonna be like drinking a big glass of water, hydrating. Um, I guess that would be for yeah, something I would do.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. The one thing I'm saying no to this summer is ooh, a bunch of events. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Or just you know, something like there's so much popping off of my inbox. It's crazy. You gotta clear the calendar. Clear the calendar.

SPEAKER_00

I was gonna say, I was gonna say something similar to this, but the one thing I'm saying no to this summer is saying no to things that don't set my soul on fire, like that don't excite me. You know, I think I'm at a place now in what I'm doing to where I don't need to be everywhere. I don't need to be doing everything. It's just like, let's do stuff that's exciting and keep it, keep it pushing.

SPEAKER_02

I would say for me, um, gossip. I don't, I don't want to hear the latest.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Don't fill me in. Uh you want to be out of the loop. What's that, real? I want to be out of the loop. Don't don't fill me in. Don't tell me.

SPEAKER_00

I'm I'm the same way. I'm like, I don't need to hear it. I'm like, I'm so heavily focused on my own life. And I think that's how it should be. You don't need to be immersing yourself in other people's business. Um, yeah. Yeah, I'm good with that.

SPEAKER_02

Um, one habit I'm committed to cutting down on the drinking. No drinking, cutting down on the drinking. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Me is a good routine and sleep.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I second that. Good sleep for sure. My summer drink is a margarita.

SPEAKER_00

Nice ice cold margarita with salt on the rim. Okay. Uh by the pool.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I would say for me, something refreshing. Some type of spritzer. Um, yeah. Something refreshing. I like that. Beach or pool? Ooh. I would say beach. I'm from Wisconsin. I grew up off of Lake Michigan. So I would say beach all day. How about you?

SPEAKER_00

I would have to say beach too. It's too hot to be by a pool out here. It's like you'll burn. It is hot. Like, I'll go to some of these pool pool events or you know, be outside and I'm like, oh, it's just too hot. Like it's yeah, it's miserable.

SPEAKER_02

That's why I was asking you about that cabana because I'm like, I don't want to be in nobody's pool. Just out, you know, like it's um, it's at nighttime.

SPEAKER_00

So I mean it's a nighttime pool party. Um, yeah, we're talking about 4th of July plans this weekend. There is um a big pool party happening, and it's at nighttime, so it should be better. It should be better, yeah. It shouldn't be too hot. It's gonna be hot, but not too hot.

SPEAKER_02

Sunshine or sunset. I'm gonna say sunrise or sunset.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna say sunset for me because I don't really get up at sunrise. Um I'm just being real, I don't like it's yeah, I just like how the sun sits. Me too. Beautiful, yeah. Especially here. It's really nice. So pretty. Vacation or staycation? Vacation all day. Same. Like if I had the option, exactly, I'm out of here. Like, I mean, it, you know, nice stacation is great every once in a while, but if I can leave, I will leave. Absolutely, especially in the summer.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, absolutely. What's one thing you're romanticizing this summer?

SPEAKER_00

Um I guess my my peace and just my life, just romanticizing my life, you know, just having fun, being in the moment, just doing doing things, just doing cool things.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I would say my health and probably my relationships as well.

SPEAKER_00

What's one thing you're leaving in the spring or the summer? I'm assuming spring, summer, or what's one thing you're leaving behind the summer?

SPEAKER_02

Um I would say inconsistency um when it comes to my health. Yeah, and leave that behind. Get more serious, get more disciplined. Yeah, because if I'm spending all this time doing, putting in all this work, I need to see some results. I need an ROI. I agree. Because why am I doing it?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, that's with anything. Um I would say for myself, just you know, negative mindset, you know, or just, you know, I guess people pleasing, letting, you know, other people's opinions like bother me and just like just being rooted in myself. I'm just like I said, just leaving the negative mindset behind and just, you know, just be positive, just have fun and yeah, not worry about what other people think.

SPEAKER_02

Um, what's your summer anthem? What's yours? Summer, summer, summertime. Yeah, I love that song.

SPEAKER_01

This is just like have fun. That's such a book. Who cares? You know.

SPEAKER_00

I love that music. I love, love, love that time period. Um, I'm gonna say the I mean, the first song that popped into my head was Rihanna. Please don't stop the music.

SPEAKER_01

I want to take you away. I'm guessing.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I don't know. It's the first song that popped in my head. So I was like, you know, I've been going to these festivals, concerts. I'm like, yeah, don't stop the music. Yep.

SPEAKER_02

If this summer had one word, it would be transformative. Ooh, I love that. I think I would say intentional. Yeah. Intentional.

SPEAKER_00

I like that.

SPEAKER_02

Take advantage of the time. Slower is downtime. Be intentional.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. I love that. Okay. Take it away.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so romanticizing. So today's takeaway. Romanticizing your life isn't about spending money or pretending life is perfect. It's about becoming intentional with the life you already have. I love that. Sometimes the smallest routines become the biggest transformations. This summer, don't wait for happiness. Create it and take advantage of the slowness of the slow, you know, downtime.

SPEAKER_00

I really like that. And our weekly or bi-weekly affirmation is together, I choose to create joy in my everyday life. I embrace growth, welcome new experiences, and give myself permission to slow down, be present, enjoy the season I'm in. Every small habit is helping me become the person I am meant to be.

SPEAKER_02

I love that. And so we're putting this out to you guys. How are you romanticizing your summer? So share one routine, habit, or experience that's making your best summer yet. We may feature some of your responses in future episodes. So make sure you comment.
